Abstract

This dictionary which has been prepared within the UN Economic Commission for Africa, may be regarded as step forward in filling the gap' in the regional planning manuals. The main ends of the dictionary are as follows: to bring into-conformity, as near as possible, the existing terms, to eliminate unnecessary divergences and to standardize the definitions; to enrich the international terminology -in that field by some unique but practically useful terms applied in some countries, especially in African nations; to acquaint the African planners with modern terminology in domain of regional planning and, where possible, to give them commonly used techniques of planning in that field.
