Human Settlement problems and potentials in the Eastern and Southern subregion of Africa

Abstract

The development of African countries depends to an appreciable extent on the planned and orderly growth of its human settlements, as they are the foci of activity, seats of power and centers of social change and economic growth. An effort is made in this paper to highlight the nature and structure of human settlements in the African region in general and the Eastern and Southern subregion of Africa in particular, and to suggest the possible planning policies and development strategies.
