Abstract
The Workshop on statistical Computing: selected issues, including statistical databases was held at the UNECA headquarters. The meeting was opened by Mr. Layashi Yaker, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive secretary of the Economic Commission For Africa. The Workshop was attended by 14 participants from 7 member States: Botswana, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Seychelles, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia. Resource persons were provided by statistics-Sweden, United· Nations statistical Division (UNSTAT/DESIPA) and the secretariat. A comprehensive documentation concerning the eleven technical papers, country reports and other related information was distributed to the participants, Full list of these documents is attached as Annex 2. The work was organized in five major sessions (agenda items 4,5, 6, 7 and 8), composed of technical presentation and computer demonstrations and country reports programme of Work is attached as Annex :3.
