The central statistics office in Botswana is located within the ministry of finance and development planning the head of the office ( the government statistician ) reporting to the permanent secretary of the ministry through the director of economic affairs. Its basic function is to collect process analyze and disseminate statistical data relating to the economic and social aspects of the Botswana economy .its pursues these activities with a current establishment of approximately 76 staff members the bulk of whom(nearly 58) are in the general administrative and secretarial grade the remainder consisting of professionals advisers and experts a number of them expatriates recruited via bilateral and international agencies.
