Agricultural economics bulletin for Africa: no.8
Abstract
The adoption of the techniques of benefit-cost analysis for economic evaluation of development projects in the conditions of an under developed country needs careful study. In this paper, by way of example, the economic evaluation of the village settlement programme in Tanzania is discussed. In this paper the scope of village settlement in Tanzania, the policies pursued, and the administration of the programme is described, first because this knowledge is necessary for a proper understanding of the economic analysis which follows.
