An evaluation and analysis of the 1970 population census results of Ghana

Abstract

The 1970 census enumeration and the 1971 Supplementary Enquiry were carried out by the Census Office within the Central Bureau of Statistics of Ghana under the Statistics Act of 1961. The whole country was divided into enumeration areas and all the people living in the country as on census right (March: 1, 1970) were to be enumerated and the required information on every person was to be obtained from each individual if possible. Two types of questionnaire forms were used one for household enumeration and the other for group quarters or institutions including the floating population.
