Abstract

This paper is a summary review of various studies carried out, mostly in the United States, on investment in research and extension, studies which an attempt is made to relate to policy decisions to be made by the nations of the world. Contemporary Africa. The recent economic situation throughout the world has materially upset traditional economic relationships and thinking. The changes have been so large, unforeseeable and widespread that if we were to suggest such things in our elementary economic classes when we were in the University, our professors would have dismissed most of them as impossible.
