dc.description.abstractThe GATT secretariat taken the action on Trade and Development Problems. The efforts GATT is directing towards the expansion of international trade have for some time become increasingly focused on specific trade and development problems of developing countries. This trend is inter alia a reflection of the growing importance of these countries in GATT. The establishment of new independent States in Asia and Africa, there has been a corresponding growth in GATT membership and today, of the sixty-four contracting parties, forty-one are developing countries and, of these, twenty-one are members of the Economic Commission for Africa.en
