Promoting regional co-operation through joint ventures with public enterprises: the Nigerian experience

Abstract

The 1979 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria prescribes for the country, a mixed economy in which Verlie public sector co--exists with an increasingly dynamic private sector. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the experience of Nigeria in the use of joint ventures with public enterprises to promote co-operation among the various states in the country and between her and other countries particularly in Africa. The paper focuses on, among other things, planned and on-going joint ventures and the management problems affecting the performance of joint venture enterprises.
