Résumé
The meeting of the Ad-Hoc Committee of the African Chambers of Commerce which was officially opened by Comrade Wollie Chekol, Minister of Foreign Trade of Socialist Ethiopia, Mr. Marc Manirakiza, Deputy Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa and Mr. Demeke Zewolde Secretary-general of the Association· of African Trade Promotion Organizations also delivered opening statements. During the meeting the chairman drew its terms of reference and gave a synopsis of the state of intra-4frican trade, the problems faced by African countries in the process of economic development particularly the ever increasing deficit and debt burden, and concluded by pointing out that it was of utmost importance that African Chambers of Commerce should play their role in expediting the establishment of the Federation of African Chambers of Commerce in line with the Lagos Plan of Action.
