dc.description.abstractThe world food programme which is now in its 10th year has made substantial progress since it became operational in January 1963. Its basic objective is the promotion of economic and social development projects in developing countries through multilateral food aid and to a limited extent, to furnish food relief in emergency situation. Food aid is provided by the programme in a variety of patterns.en
