This paper attempts to give: (i) a brief note on the uses of social accounting matrix and its analytical framework is outlined for the benefit of the countries that wish to establish the SAM-based short-term forecasting systems ; (ii) report on the African countries experiences in the area of SAM-based short-term forecasting systems with the view to sharing experience; and, (iii) the problems encountered in the implementation of the system at the country level.
