The .ECA mission to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, of which
the following is the report,was sent the following the recommendations
of the BANAKC conference, with the object.of placing the republic on
the same footing as other 'rest African Countries in regard to
investigations into its comparative advantages as a site for an
integrated iron and steel industry serving the whole sub-region and
for other industrial possibilities the mission was composed of Mrshukri (Regional Ad visor on Geology) Head of the mission, Mr. Z. Rupnic (Natural resources Division, Energy) and Mr. J, Jockstrap (industry Division, Mechanical metallurgy) who visited the Republic from 11 to.. 25 of January 1965 They were joined by Mr. Baba Kiase (Director of the ECA Sub-Regional Office in Niamey from the 14th to l8th of January and By Mr A.E Denis,Director of steel, ministry of Industry, France, from the 15th to 19th of January, The mission subsequently left for Guinea.
