Improving the management of African economies : some problematic areas

Abstract

As the African economic and social crisis deepens, all kinds of questions are being raised with respect to its possible causes and the measures for mitigating it. In the widespread search for the possible causes of and the solutions to the crisis, more and more observers of the African development and economic growth scene are pointing to the problems of the management of the African economies. As it is management of economies is a complex subject whose different elements cannot be covered in a short paper like the present one prepared for a meeting like this with many items on its agenda.
