The aim of this summary is, on the one hand , to take stock of the major on – going future international economic negotiations whose outcome might have a strong impact on the development and economic growth of Africa and, on the other hand, to make some comments and suggestions as to how to approach the negotiations. The suggestions and comments concern mainly the sixth session of the United Nations Conference on trade and Development (UNCTAD), multilateral trade negotiations within the general agreement on tariffs and Trade (GATT), the negotiation of a new ACP – RRC agreement as a successor to Lome and negotiations on a code of conduct on transnational corporations.
