Report of the conference
Abstract
As a rather of urgency, African countries must strengthen their statistical infrastructures as a basis for effective policy-making and planning. In this connection, they are urged to formulate statistical development programmes and these should be included in national development plans. These programmes should incorporate a list of data requirements in line with its needs and priority.The importance of data evaluation and analysis was stressed. The representative of the secretariat then referred to the experiences of ECA and. IPS in assisting African countries to analyses their census data.
