Innovation, technology and industrialization in Africa
dc.description.abstract | Researchers at the African Economic Conference 2023 highlighted Africa's potential for industrialization through technological diversity and regional collaboration. A study by Gideon Ndubuisi et al. revealed varying technological capabilities across 50 African countries (2000–2018), with average capability nearly doubling due to digital growth. Intra-African trade, supported by the AfCFTA, was identified as a key driver of industrial interdependence. Another study on Kenyan firms found that financial constraints, corruption, and informal competition hinder capacity utilization, while gender-diverse leadership improves efficiency. Both papers emphasize institutional reforms and regional value chains to accelerate Africa's industrialization. | en |
