Briefing by the Executive Secretary on progress made in the implementation of the programme of work of the Economic Commission for Africa during the period January–March 2024

Abstract

This report presents an overview of the Economic Commission for Africa's (ECA) activities from January to March 2024, focusing on key events, knowledge generation, capacity development, and consensus-building efforts. Notable events included the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, which addressed financing inclusive green economies, and the Seventh Africa Business Forum, emphasizing education and innovation. ECA also launched the Young Economists Network to foster research and collaboration among young economists. Capacity development initiatives included training sessions on women and youth empowerment in agriculture and social policy for development planners. The report highlights ECA's commitment to supporting member states in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union's Agenda 2063 through strategic partnerships and targeted interventions.
