Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries: report on progress in implementation of priority areas in Africa

Abstract

This report examines progress in implementing the Doha Programme of Action for Least Developed Countries in Africa, focusing on priority areas such as poverty eradication, education, gender equality, health, youth empowerment, governance, and technology. Despite challenges like economic volatility, high debt, and conflicts, some African LDCs show resilience, with nine among the world’s fastest-growing economies. Progress includes modest improvements in social protection, education parity, and maternal health, but gaps persist in tertiary education, digital access, and sanitation. Governance scores remain low, though some countries excel. Structural transformation is hindered by undiversified economies and limited global trade integration.
