Résumé
The document is a concept note for a high-level round-table discussion on special economic zones (SEZs) as drivers of regional value chain development in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). It highlights the potential of SEZs to promote industrialization, innovation, and sustainable development in Africa. The note discusses the evolution of SEZs, their mixed results, and the emergence of new-generation SEZs focused on sustainability and regional integration. It also outlines the objectives of the round-table discussion, including reviewing SEZ strategies, addressing challenges, and exploring opportunities within the AfCFTA framework.
