The present study provides an evaluation of the effects that the coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic has had on the multidimensional poor. In line with the monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals, the study also provides data on how poor people are multidimensional affected. Data are presented in a disaggregated nature and according to social groups of the population. The objective of the consultants was to support the Gender, Poverty and Social Policy Division, in conjunction with the African Centre for Statistics, in undertaking the poverty measurement component of the thirteenth tranche project of the United Nations Development Account, entitled “Strengthening social protection for pandemic response”. Specifically, the overall objective of the assignment was to prepare a multidimensional poverty index for five countries to better identify the poorest people in those countries and to assist in the attainment of the aforementioned objectives of the poverty measurement stream of the Development Account project in order to better target social assistance.
