Experiments in agricultural planning and policy is based on the diversification and the rapid development of export crops. For this dual purpose a certain number of experiments have been tried. An agricultural policy, at least in its main guidelines, was defined in the two development plans of Senegal. The agricultural targets of the second four-year plan firstly take up again and intensify the fundamental actions already launched by the first plan the increase of export crops and secondly lay special stress on the problems of production diversification and the organization of markets. Among these experiments in agricultural planning made in certain regions- Casamance, the Fleuve, Sine-Saloum, the most interesting one is undoubtedly that of Casmance, both, because of the large number of projects and because of the latent potential of this region, the development of which would be particularly valuable for the national economy.
