The development and utilization of human resources in Africa : from the point of view of the supply of qualified personnel : the reform of educational systems, the planning of education and the training of planners

Abstract

The documents placed at the disposal of the Working Party by the secretariat of the ECA; preparatory work and the proceedings of the conference on Education and Scientific Training in Africa which was held in Nairobi in July 1968 under the auspices of UNESCO and the OAU, as well as the proceedings of the recent International Conference on Educational Planning held at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris, have revealed the imbalance existing between the needs in trained personnel required for the economic growth, of African countries and the tempo at which graduates are produced as it results from the present working of the educational systems.
