Abstract
At the fourth meeting of Directors of STPA centers, there was a discussion on whether a center was needed in Africa to train students who had already passed stage II examinations of the Institute of Statisticians (IOS) to enable them sit for the final stage, of the IOS examinations known as the Graduate Diploma in statistics. The secretariat indicated that in discussions elsewhere, it had appeared that the problem of providing training facilities for the graduate diploma in statistics was ,one which particularly concerned the English-speaking countries of the Eastern and Southern Africa region.
