Abstract
This article presents the conceptual framework on gender mainstreaming and traces the link between gender mainstreaming and gender equality in the planning and implementation of specific gender equality policies. It underscores the importance of gender mainstreaming strategy in the development process. It also discusses the facilitating factors to employ in the process of promoting gender mainstreaming policy formulation. In this regard, the prerequisites, strategies, the profile, and the roles of the actors are presented. The article further presents the measures to undertake in providing quality gender mainstreaming policies and underlines the main methods or rather what to do when formulating gender mainstreaming policies. The situation of gender mainstreaming at present is finally drawn up leading to conclusions and recommendations.
