Abstract

Report of the public administration, human resources and social development division to the conference of Ministers responsible for human resource planning, development and utilization on the Economic Crisis, Structural Adjustment and Higher Education in Africa. This report will discuss the economic crisis and the impact of structural adjustment programmes on higher education in Africa. Emphasis will be place on the manner in which SPAs policy measures in the higher education sector have affected the entire education system and the development of the African region. An analysis of the relationship between higher education and socio-economic development will be made.
