This paper will deal solely with the movement of persons at frontiers. The data were supplied by immigration/emigration offices and by hotels. The reports of the different bodies such as the League of Nations through the World Tourism Organization, United Nations Organization and the various specialized organizations were used to define the guiding principles for the establishment of reliable and comparable tourism statistics. One of the objectives of this Seminar is to provide participants and African States with the methods of collecting, analyzing, presenting and disseminating statistical data needed for a harmonious and integrated development of tourist industries and movement of persons.
