Draft Report of the regional meeting for the revision and endorsement of the Arabic version of the Macro thesaurus for Socio-economic development terms

Abstract

The regional meeting for the revision and endorsement of the Arabic version of the Macro-thesaurus for socioeconomic Development terms sponsored jointly by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the Industrial Development center for Arab States (IDCAS), with the collaboration of the organization for Economic-cooperation and development and the Union of Academies of Arabic language was held in Addis Ababa. The endeavors to provide a language which can process information relating to all the aspects of economic and social development and at the same time give a common dimension to the more specific vocabularies corresponding to each of them. The aim is to offer in several widely-spoken languages a common fund of terminology which has been duly tested in the practice of documentary analysis.
