This report Firstly sixty year ago government wee largely confined to regulating a fairly small and well defined segment of human affairs but nowadays all governments particularly in developing countries are concerned with economic growth and improvement of living standards in the Sudan this has been the case even before the 25th of may revolution but it took a more serious and progressive attitude under the present revolutionary regime which is decidedly committed to the development of the country is only very limited information available for 1974 and in the commercial agriculture sector the seed cotton crop for 1973/4 was about 45000 tons compared with 50000 tons in 1972/3 commercial palm oil production in 1973/4 was lass than in the previous season and estimated suggest 22500 tons of palm and palm kernel oil compared with 28700 tons in 1972/3 purchases of cocoa were much reduced to about 4500 tons in 1973/4 from the level of 19600 tons in 1972/
