Abstract

Report of the technical briefing meeting on evaluation of rural development experiences in Africa (ERDEA). The principle objective of ERDEA was to assist rural people to develop a rural capacity in planning and implementation of projects or programmes. The ERDEA guidelines were the result of a long debate in the ECA and a wide consultation process which had led to the June 1989 meeting, where draft guidelines produced by JEFAD were discussed and enriched. The ultimate objective of ERDEA will be to advance “participation from advocacy to practice through programmes of training and research and field programmes the methodology of ERDEA had to be correct.
