Draft African Union convention on the establishment of a credible legal framework for cyber security in Africa

Abstract

African States are in dire need of innovative criminal policy strategies that embody States, societal and technical responses to create a credible legal climate for cyber security. Based on reappraisal of the legal and institutional climate in African Union regions as starting point, the objective of this Convention is to propose the adoption at the level of the African Union, of Convention establishing credible framework for cybersecurity in Africa through organization of electronic commerce, protection of personal data and combating cybercrime. The objective of the Convention oh Cyber Security is to contribute to the preservation of the institutional, human, financial, technological and informational assets and resources put in place by institutions to achieve their objectives.
