This statement presented by the DR. J. G. head of Kenya delegation at the seventh session of the commission. The representative outlines that on his statement precisely how the Kenya economy fared in1964 as a whole but it would seem that it was generally a year of steady though not necessarily dramatic progress, in which the economy did not expand as rapidly as they would have wished, but in which important achievements were made, particularly in reversing the trend apparent in recent years of declining employment. The representative said that his government is pleased to report to the conference that their trade with Tanzania and Uganda has been the most buoyant of all. They increased their import from their neighbors by about 20 percent while the value of their exports to them increased by a similar percentage. Their development plan represents the blue-print for lifting the living standards of their people. Achievement of the plan targets will depend to a considerable extent upon their success in generating domestic savings. The representative referred to a sound investment policy and he should like to say few words about external investment and finance and aid programmes.en
