This statement presented by the representative of the United Nations technical assistance board at the seventh session of the commission. The representative outlines that on his statement in the biennium 1963-1964 Africa received about $52 million in technical assistance under the above programmes, that is excluding the special Fund, UNICEF and regular programmes other than the UN. This represents about 35 per cent or over one-third of the total cost of the two programmes to all developing countries, as against about 29% in the period 1961-1962. The increasing volume of aid to Africa is partly a reflection of the fact that with the attainment of political independence more African countries are in a position to avail themselves more readily and more fully of multilateral aid.
