Methods and problems of civil registration and vital statistics collection in Africa
Abstract
This report of the third Conference of African Statisticians held 2-11 October 1963 in Addis Ababa on the theme of Methods and problems of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Collection in Africa. The purpose of the report is to review the state of civil registration and of vital statistics in Africa and the means by which coverage and quality can be improved in the future. The remainder of the report consists of an examination of possible methods of approach to the double problem of civil registration and statistics collection under African conditions, followed by an account of some recent experiments in African countries.
