Before the first world war Algeria’s geology was nearly unknow except for the northern part of the country. Between the two world wars geological research was in progress and how the complicated geology of the Atlas mountains has been studied in detail and many stratigraphical and periodical problem solved (mainly by French geologists) during this period. The survey was extended over the Sahara and Conrad Killan was the geologist who gave the first description of the geological structure of this great territory. P. Russo F. Ehrmann R. Laffitte studies the tectonic of the Atals deposits G.Lucas the stratigraphy. The Tindouf basin was studied the geologists started the work for a geological map of the Sahara and Atlas.
