Proposals for the rationalisation of West African integration efforts

Abstract

The report recognize that the rationalization of the existing institutional arrangement will have to be a long process and has therefore suggested a pragmatic and gradualist approach. While the community makes a start with the above proposals towards one subregional integration arrangement it is further proposed that ECOWAS should encourage active co-operation with and among those organizations not included in this first round of institutional rationalization to ensure harmony and pave the way for convergence.
