This document focuses on the report of HDR-SA 2012 human development report for Southern Africa on the theme of enhancing human development through regional integration in SADC. The report notes the critical roles that peace and stability, sound macroeconomic management, good governance and strong institutions, clear property rights, and adequate physical infrastructure play in driving economic and social development in Southern Africa. It calls for the mitigation of the adverse effects of climate change and variability on the environment and on the overall economies of Southern Africa.
