Outline of the programme of statistical activities in the Portuguese provinces in Africa for the period 1960-1964

Abstract

In view of the need to ensure, efficient and technically sound execution of the statistical activities to be carried out in the Overseas Provinces during the period 1960-64, it was decided at the beginning of 1959 to draw up an overall programme under which continuity and co ordination of activities would be assured After the preliminary draft of this programme had been prepared by the competent services of the Ministry for Overseas Territories, consultations followed with the different organs and institutions concerned the National Institute of Statistics, local government authorities, the National. Development Bank etc. Furthermore, as the first Conference of African Statisticians tad taken place, the preliminary draft was adjusted to meet the recommendations it had adopted.
