Abstract

This paper focuses on leakages in the mobilization of domestic financial resources for socio-economic development: a review of recent trends and their impact in selected African countries. This worrisome trend in development finance mobilization in African countries has been due, among other factors, to the following underlying problems: the African economy has been performing poorly to yield high national income which should provide the base for taxation; the decline in economic performance has meant a diminishing tax base.
