African Directory of Statisticians= Repertoire African des Statisticiens

Abstract

At the request of the countries of the region, the ECA secretariat established a directory of specialists in African demographic questions, which was submitted to the fifth Conference of African Statisticians. In view of the interest aroused by the directory of demographers, the ECA secretariat has taken the initiative in launching the present directory of statisticians which will be submitted to the sixth session of the Conference of African Statisticians. Its object is to provide general information .on the persons who are responsible for compiling and developing African statistics, or for the training of African Statisticians. As the group of .persons concerned comprises both Africans and non-Africans, and persons working in the region and elsewhere, this document has been entitled an. African directory of statisticians rather than a directory of African Statisticians.
