Abstract
As the International Development Strategy emphasizes, the developing countries must improve and expand their statistical services in order to have the data required for their programmes of economic and social development. The document is designed to be of assistance to the developing countries in the orderly establishment of adequate statistical services by listing and discussing the general-purpose economic and social statistics that the services might gather and compile.
