The case studies examined the role that the private sector has played and is now playing towards contributing to the economic development in general and poverty alleviation as well as employment generation in particular. The case studies have given an overview of current trends, approaches, legislative policies and strategies to private sector development adopted by the selected countries. These are Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The ECA staff conducted a case study for Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia. The reports emphasised lessons learnt and the way forward.
