The crisis and industrial rehabilitation and revitalization

Abstract

The past recent years have been the eye witnesses of a particularly acute and increasingly deepening socio-economic crisis which continues to hit the African countries and their already vulnerable economies. In the industrial sector, the persistence and intensification of the unsatisfactory trends in all statistics and indicators is a reflexion of the severity and seriousness of the situation which speaks for itself. What is at stake is not a mere stagnation or deceleration of the industrial development but the very survival of millions of Africans- In this connection, the challenge before African countries is what immediate measures can- be undertaken to keep essential industries operating and make them to contribute to the efforts for survival.
