The study attempts to expose the control of transnational corporations over the tea industry in Kenya and the comparative weakness of the Kenya Government and its national tea corporations. This weakness has led to unequal Positions in negotiations between the TUCs and the Government over the important issue of distribution of economic gains derived from tea. Reasons for this imbalance, the bargaining situation itself, the variables of the situation and determining factors for the outcome of negotiations themselves are analyzed. Attempts at amendments by the Government and its national tea corporations have bee-'charged. An estimate of the impact from each party to the negotiations and the nature of the outcome is made.
