Report of the regional meeting on natural disaster prevention and preparedness in Africa
Abstract
The regional meeting on natural disaster prevention and preparedness in Africa was held at Africa hall, Addis Ababa from 24 to 25 February 1984. It was organized under the joint auspices of the United Nations Economic Commissions for Africa (ECA), the organizations of African unity (OAU) and the office of the United Nations disaster relief co – ordinator (UNDRO) in compliance with the recommendations of the meeting of the United Nations system and the OAU secretariats, held at the headquarters of ECA during 21 to 25 April 1983. The objective of the meeting was to address the current situation as related to natural disasters and hazards in Africa and to consider measures that can be taken to control, prevent and /or prepare for natural hazards in Africa.
