The Commission on the Status of Women held its 37th session at the Vienna International Centre from 17-26 March 1993. Issues discussed on the priority themes of equality, development and peace included: increased awareness by women of their rights, including legal literacy; Women in extreme poverty; integration of women's concerns in national development planning; Women and the peace process. Focusing on the preparations for the Fourth World Conference on Women: Action for Equality, Development and Peace, the Commission discussed at length issues relative to preparatory activities at the national, regional and international levels, information and communication networks, as well as the outline for the Platform for Action. Details and conclusions reached on these issues are presented in this report.
