Directory of statistical training centres not participating in the Statistical Training Programme for Africa (STPA)

Abstract

At the request of the third session of the Joint Conference of African Planners, Statisticians and Demographers the present first issue of the Directory of Statistical Training Centers not participating in the Statistical Training Programme for Africa was compiled. The ECA secretariat requested the centers concerned to communicate to it information on the numbers of teaching staff, teaching programmes, admission requirements, students intake and output, fees, fellowships and living conditions. The response of the centers was not very encouraging. Seven centers, one in the French-speaking countries and six in the English-speaking countries responded to the secretariat request. It is expected that the response rate of the centers will improve with time.
