Abstract
This brief survey of the social factors of education makes clear, first of all, the vital importance of reviewing traditional concepts. It also indicates the possibility and even necessity of formulating education plans of some duration, even going beyond that of the economic plans. Educating people is henceforward part and parcel of a country's general development. Not content with satisfying the needs of the individual, education concerns the very life of the nation and is its most precious ferment.
