Abstract
The present study was undertaken pursuit to the recommendations adopted by the Meeting of Plenipotentiaries of the Multinational Programming and Operational Centre (MULPOC) for North Africa, Already in the course of its first meeting held at Tangier from 14 to 18 March 1973, the Committee of Experts of MULPOC had adopted, among priority sectors, that of trade. It was decided to send out a multi-disciplinary mission to the six countries of the sub-region - namely, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Sudan - whose task it would be: - To draw up an inventory of the impediments to and constraints on trade promotion in the sub-region; - To delimeate a profile of the exports and imports of each country; - To identify their agricultural and industrial products, as well as the potentialities of these two sectors, in order to assist the States concerned in intensifying trade in these products among themselves; - To formulate recommendations with a view to eliminating impediments and to propose such measures as might be appropriate to promote trade in the sub-region.
