Urban Administration in Certain English-Speaking Areas in Africa

Abstract

This paper is concerned with the administrative problems encountered in providing them. The paper confines itself to large towns. It is impossible to define exactly what this means, but in general terms it refers to towns which have a special importance because they are centres of government, trade and commerce, manufacturing industry or mining. In British African terminology they would normally be towns which are given "municipal" as distinct from "township" status.
